Using AOL, Net Zero, etc. and cannot get email by using Outlook Express?
Try this
Outlook Express Setup
Please carefully read all instructions before proceeding to the next set of instructions. Note that the information provided in each figure is for EXAMPLE purposes only. If, for some reason, you cannot access your mail correctly after following these steps
(for instance if AOL or Net Zero, etc. is your Internet Service Provider), go here and download the easy to use Open Web Mail (web based email) application or follow the method mentioned
below. -
Open Outlook Express or 98/2000 and select "Accounts..." from the "Tools" menu.

-
Click the "Add" button, then click "Mail."

-
Enter your name as you want it to appear on the emails people receive from you and then click "Next".

-
Enter your email address and click "Next".
-
Verify the "My incoming mail server is a" is set to POP3. Enter
mail.yourdomainname.com (.us, .ca, etc.) in both the incoming and outgoing servers and click "Next".
-
Enter your user name and password (determine if you want Outlook Express to remember your password or not, if you do, click in the box at the beginning of the Remember Password sentence just below the space for your password)
and then click "Next" and then click "Finish".
-
Now, find the account you just added and double click on it. Click on the "Servers" tab at the top. At the bottom of the window that comes up, click the check box at the beginning of the sentence that says
"My server requires authentication" and then click on "Settings" (we are almost finished). Now, click on the radio button at the beginning of the sentence that says "Log on using" and enter the user name
and password I emailed to you (remember to set the "Remember password" check box accordingly) and then click "OK". This is what prevents unauthorized people from using my server to send SPAM email.
-
Now for the most critical step... If you don't have Norton Anti-Virus, get it and install it. For configuring that, call or email (information listed below). If you already have, make sure it is up-to-date
and configured to scan incoming emails and set to automatically update.
-
The final step I would recommend in this whole process is to tell Outlook Express to check for mail more often. Click on Tools then Options then at the end of the sentence that says Check for mail every... I set
that to 1 minute (s).
